2 months and a bunch of randomness–

Makenna is 2 months old today. She is getting pretty big. We went to the doctor this past week for her cold to be on the safe side. We had her weighed and she was 9 pounds 3 oz. Her cold was said to be bronciloitis, however you spell that, but she is clearing up now thankfully.

It is cold again and we are inside. The beans came out again. Every once in a while we get them out to play. They are a bit messy but the kids love them Naomi is really into putting them into things and pouring them out. Preston likes to drive his diggers on them. This is the only pic that I got before Naomi was trying to take the camera.

img_5483

Makenna loves being swaddled like the others did. She sleeps so peacefully like that but doesn’t like to sleep with her arms free.

We have been spending lots of time in PJ’s lately. No reason to get dressed I guess when we haven’t been out.

img_5459

I really took this pic of Naomi in her striped PJ’s because she looks like Cindy Lou from the Grinch Who Stole Christmas. The little girl in Whooville. Don’t you think.

Can you believe it is sleeting and snowing today?? I hope it doesn’t kill our tulips and other things that are starting to grow.

newest venture–house for sale

By Josh’s prompting and me agreeing we have decided to put our house up “For Sale by Owner” to see what happens. We kinda want 4 bedrooms or a house with some land. You can check it out here and pass the word along to anyone wanting a beautiful house in Gardner.

From some old emails

I am doing this for memories sake. Before I got into blogging I would send out occasional emails to family about how the kids, Preston and Naomi, were. Here are some of them:

It is already Wed. This week is going fast with the little things around here.
Preston got his bunk bed finally and we put it up last night..well, I should say Josh put it up he did 99% of it.
Preston slept great in it and I was excited about that, we will see how nap time goes. His room really looks like a big boy room now.

Preston is in the mine stage full force now. I will make it through listening to him say it all the time :)
Yesterday he was playing in the living room by himself and I heard him saying mine, my car, mine, my choo choo…oh my he is even saying it by himself. I thought maybe he has an invisible friend. IT was pretty funny.

Naomi is talking a lot in the last few days and being a little stubborn about sleeping…mainly when she isnt in her room.

Preston may be a big helper with cleaning. At least I can hope for that. He like using the feather duster and then the other day he got out the swiffer and was cleaning the floors for me :)
I love watching Naomi sleep, she looks so peaceful all swaddled up in her crib and I always hate to have to wake her, but sometimes we have to.

We had pizza for dinner. We are trying to teach Preston to pray he said Dear Lord, Thank you Pizza, then he will say thank you Naomi, thank you mommy, thank you daddy…it is so cute.

Naomi is continuing to roll over but she will mainly rolls from her back to her tummy and then she cant figure out how to roll back over so she just gets stuck there and starts to cry. Preston will sit next to her and say “roll Naomi roll” over and over again. One time he tried to assist her by giving her a little push to roll over.

Preston is loving his big boy bed more each day. He sleeps real well in there. If we ask him if he is ready for night night at nighttime sometimes he says yes. Today is Tues and last night he had his first fall out of bed. It was 1 am and he was crying really hard. Josh went in and he was sitting close to his door. Josh said he was looking for his stool. We taught him to climb to his bed and turn on the light with this little stool but he had brought it into our room so he could nt find it. HE was planning on using it to get back into bed in the dark.
He eventually settled down and fell back asleep but I felt bad for him, though it was cute he was feeling around in the dark for his stool.

10/31/07
Preston wished me a Happy Birthday but say Happy Happy Mommy. It was really cute.

We went to a cider mill and Preston had a really fun time watching the apples being squashed into cider and then watching the cider doughnuts being made. He now calls it the apple place and is constantly asking to eat apple mommy. He jumped off the hay bails and and tried to lift the big pumpkins…I am sure he would have been able to if I would have let him keep trying.

Naomi seemed to have fun there too. It was a nice day and she just sat on my hip as we walked around to the different things.

We went to boo at the zoo on SAturday. Naomi was a pig and everyone we passed so “oh, look at the pig”: She did look pretty cute. Preston was a construction worker although everyone thought he was Bob the builder. He didnt quiet understand the trick or treat thing but loved his first full sucker. He had a toosie roll pop and it was all over him. It took him over an hour to finish it. NOw, he knows what they are and has discovered he likes them.

We went to our church Fall festival on Sunday and Preston got to take a buggy ride pulled by a horse so since he is into these horses right now that was lots of fun.

Naomi had her 4 mo check up on Monday. SHe was 13 lb–50th percentile, 23 3/4 in – 25 percentile. Dr said she looked good physically and that we can start her on rice cereal whenever we want. So, if she is anything like Preston starting to eat it will be a n adventure.

I was teaching Preston to say down set hike while we were playing catch with the football and he sat down on the ground like that is what I was telling him to do. It was too funny. Then he started to say hike and throw the ball.

Things have been really busy lately as you can see so sorry to not type more.

Preston will be 2 in less than a week. THat is crazy!!!

11/5/07
Trick or treating was fun. I took PReston to 5 houses. He said trick or treat and then got his treat. Then in the morning he was in our room, he left our room, closed the door when to get his pumpkin bucket, came and knocked on our door. When we opened it he said “trick or treat” It was really funny.

He now thinks the bowl that holds the candy in it is the trick or treat bowl. He first brought his little stool to the counter to get a piece on his own and then I caught him…so it is now on top of the frig so he takes his stool over there and tries to reach it, but it is too high for him so he says trick or treat and points to the bowl. I put some other things in the bowl too like pretzels and granola bars so I ask him do you want some pretzels, (from the bowl) and he says yes and seems happy since it is from the bowl.

Naomi has been kinda laid back lately, she will scoot around on her back and not roll over lately, she will end up scoot around almost in a complete circle on her back. She is finally in 3-6 mo clothes but they are still a little baggy. We have given her rice cereal some this week and she seems to enjoy it.

Preston told me and Josh that he had to poppy yesterday so we told him to go to the toilet. He went to the toilet (lid closed, clothes on) and climbed up there, sat down and went in his diaper but he wouldnt go when I sat him on it for real…he got scared. All to say it was funny the noises he was making was like he was a trained man already :) . Potty training may be soon but who knows, I dont want to be training for a year…

Tonight Preston really wanted to hold Naomi. She had to feed first so I told him when she was done he could hold her. He sat beside me the whole time waiting and then when she was done he said “chold meomi” (hold naomi) and so i put her on his lap. It was so precious. he ws holding her hands and giving her squeezes. That was a fun moment.

I got to put Preston to bed tonight (sat) b/c Josh was gone (normally that is his job and Preston loves it!) I got to listen to him pray. Tonights prayer was “Dear Lord, (he says thank you__instead of thank you for ____) thank you water, thank you horses, thank you dinos, thank you shay, thank you koy, thank you shay, thank you koy (his friends he always includes in his prayer) thank you Naomi, thank you digger, thank you crane (his new garage sale toys) thank you mommy, thank you daddy. It was hard not to laugh b.c he included so many things tonight. I normally hear it from the hall way but no tonight.

Hello. We have had an eventful week.
Prestons birthday was lots of fun. I made him chicken pot pie…I think that is his favorite next to pizza. He calls it chickey pie. He gobbles it down so fast. Josh and I had one piece then he ate the rest for the next meals until it was all gone and is still asking for it…:)

We got him a tricycle to have on his bday and he rode that down our driveway although it is still a bit big for him. he calls it his present and wants togo ride his bicycle.

We had his party on Saturday and all of his cousins came to celebrate. He got some dinos, a digger, plane, eagle, and some balls, all of his favorite things. When he woke up on Sunday the first thing he said to Josh was Digger downstairs, dino downstairs and went off to play with them. He started to understand the idea of a present so that was fun. He likes to say Mommy play __ and then i play it with him. Sometimes we have to “work” on the train track with he hammer and wrench.

HE nows says the word toot. So if he toots he will tell us toot mommy or toot daddy ( although sometimes it is more :) )
It is just funny to hear him talk about it. A boy already :)

HE is learning more words by the day. The other day was a 5 word sentence. Some times he works real hard to get his full sentence out. like Play digger please downstairs mommy.

He still likes horseys and trots around the house. YOu ask him what he is doing and he says horsey.

Not much about Naomi yet. She is starting to talk a bit…goo and gaa. Yesterday she did it a a lot. She squeals and laughs from her belly when she gets excited…esp. around Preston. Preston is a big helper and like to get me Naomis bib… she is a drooler too. HE tries to put it around her neck but I try to do it instead.

Naomi is getting closer to sitting up. She does ok but still needs help. She isnt rolling a whole lot more but is starting to learn how to move around. She has really been liking the johnny jump up and bounces herself in it.

Preston is so funny lately. He talks in big sentences and uses word s like almost and now along with his sentences. It cracks me up…he says I want amimal crackers now, or watch Trains first …before we watch something else.
He also saw this video from you tube and asks to watch the nani anytime we are on the computer… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s8MDNFaGfT4&feature=related
it is hilarious.. SOmetimes he will dance with the music.

We are getting over colds and hopefully have had our flu bout for the season. We all caught that right before Thanksgiving and that was a new one for me. poor Preston would just throw up wherever he was and not know what to do…I did nt know what to do either. But, now we can say we did that.

Naomi is trying her hardest to crawl she gets her butt way up in the air but just gets frustrated and doesnt know what to do next. She is almost 15 lbs now.

We have been stuck inside for a while bc of the cold and PReston keeps asking to ride his bicycle..dont think that is going to happen any time soon.
He is still into building his train track but he calls it working. THe other day he asked me if I was going to work right after Daddy left for work. I told him that I worked here and he said oh work on train track. So, I know now what my job is…to build train tracks with him :)

He helped us hang ornaments on the tree and that was lots of fun for him. He likes the star on the top and we count to 10 to turn on the lights…he is learning his numbers …he will count to 10 but sometimes skips 7 and 8. It is really good though. He says his abc’s through the letter g then he thinks they are over.

Today we were at the post office and he said “man on bicyle” I said yes that man is older so he can ride his bike out in cold..bc he has been wanting to ride his.
He then said old man on bicycle with new shoes. It was so funny . I said do you think he has new shoes on? he said yes.
Why he noticed his shoes is beyond me but it was funny. We went to Wal-mart to get some things and he like to go look at the big blow up christmas balloons that you put in your yard. We have to go by that part of the store every time so that he can look at the big ballons with horses (reindeer) What will we do when Christmas is over and the balloons are gone?

Naomi is sleeping with out being swaddled now and doing really good. She is eating rice cereal and getting really messy doing it but…she has decided she doesnt like bottles so i am trying to get her to use a sippy cup so I am not stuck with her all the time. She just likes to nurse more or she forgot how to use a bottle…not sure which.

Ok, the storms are coming..snow tomorrow. Maybe we will go play in it.

1/3/08
ANother week has passed. Believe it or not Josh and I get to celebrate 5 years of marriage on Friday. Time flies—5 years and 2 kids later our lives are completely different than what they were but I wouldnt change it for anything. God has blessed us and continues to everyday!!

Preston is turning into a little man
His latest phrase is “look what i found, mommy or daddy” and you look and it is some toy or something…nothing out of the ordinary but it is funny how he uses that phrase a lot.
He also like to say “one more time” or “do it again” if he realy likes what he is doing.
Naomi is sitting up and enjoying reachign for lots of things. She is rolling all over the place.

Can you tell I started this a while back and just am getting back to it….Happy New Year. Preston says happy noodle. It is funny. I havent had to write the date yet but it is crazy that it is 2008. Preston is getting close to Potty training. You can pray for that..he tells us sometimes when he needs to go potty but other times he doesn’t. He pooped twice in the toilet yesterday. (Oh the things I get to enjoy :) )
We read the Christmas story over Christmas and ever since then Preston will get the bible and say he is reading about baby Jesus. It is really cute .

PReston latest is he likes to do circles. That is spinning in circles for minutes at a time. He thinks it is great fun.

He has also been lining up all of his balls and saying he is going to golf. Today he did it with the toy plunger…he said I am going to golf with my plunger…hits a ball..says yeah I golf…then wants me to hit it and go golf.

WE had a nice Christmas. Preston loved the tree and presents and kept wanting to open presents for a few days after.

Just some pics

Makenna’s 1 month

We went to have Makenna’s month checkup..well actually 5 week check up.
She weighed 7 lbs 6.5 oz and was 20 1.2 inches long. Everything is going good and she is loving life in the morning, not so much in the evening hours. She is a cranky one usually between 7 and 9 but hey we can’t complain too much because we get a pretty good nights sleep at night. She is a good baby. The kids love to give her kisses, even when they are sick.
0img_5363img_5350
We enjoyed our visit with Ninny and Pops last week. They got to see Makenna for the first time, see what a risk taker/drama girl Naomi is and listen to Preston’s many question. Preston took a car trip to Taco Bell with Pops and Pops came home and said “he going to be a man full of wisdom” because he asked him so many questions the whole time.

Preston wanted to put on the fairy wings that he found at Uncle Chris’s house.

Life with Naomi

Just had to make a quick post of how my night went with precious little Naomi. Gotta love her. Dad visited a few days ago from Arkansas with Brenda and he called her a little “Dora the Explorer”. I think he hit it right on the nose and thought that was a perfect name for her. Anyhow, life with Naomi is quiet interesting especially when I am trying to feed Makenna. Here is what took place while I was trying to feed Makenna tonight, of course it was right at dinner time as Josh was outside trying to fix something on his truck. I guess I just have to laugh or I think I would go crazy at times.
Naomi first dumped her food on the table……
img_5374

That ended her dinner and she didn’t seem to mind. So, remember that I am nursing Makenna and I have to take Naomi down from her seat so she doesn’t make a bigger mess. Then she goes to the other chair and grabs Preston’s cup (who has a fever today and a cold so I didn’t want them to share), then she gets the playdough that was sitting out and I told her she couldn’t play with that. That would be a whole other mess. Next, I took them to the living room until Makenna finished eating. She grabbed a coffee mug would sit it down when I told her to them pick it back up and look at me with that cute innocent smile. She dumped out these cards two times. She dumped out the puzzles. She was a major tornado. I should have put her in her room but I was just trying to feed Makenna.
img_5373
Needless to say, we survived and life is still good. Just had to laugh that Preston said as he was putting his puzzle together on the floor, “Naomi, you are going to make Mommy crazy” I guess I have said that before and he caught on. Too funny.
Oh, I forgot to mention she had found a veggie tales DVD on the shelf and decided it would be a good thing to bite on. img_5375
