She’s here.

Here is a slide show that Josh put together of Makenna. She was born Jan 27 at 9:00 am. She was 6 lb 1.9 oz. So I guess we will say 6.2 to make it easy. She was 19 1/4 in. long. We are home from the hospital and both doing good. The kids are so excited for her. I hope that continues. More later.

I made these shirts for the kids. Hopefully sometime soon they will get to wear them.

I want to leave this up for grandpa

Preston and Naomi have had a blast playing with Lincoln Logs lately. He is really into making things for other people (mommy, daddy, grandma, grandpad, ninny, pops, sometimes he will name a friend) It is too cute. This particular house he wanted to keep up so that grandpa could see it. Well, I thought it may be a while until we saw grandpa and the house would probably be destroyed by then. He settled with us taking a picture instead. He had a little bit of help with this one from Daddy but he really is getting good at doing them on him own….especially when he should be sleeping.

Please take that to the kitchen

This made me smile. We have been trying to give Naomi simple tasks to do. One thing is when she is done with her milk, I tell her to take her cup to the kitchen. Well, today I opened up the kid’s little kitchen and this is what I found. She did do what I asked….kind of. (just her size since she is so short)

a quick note

Not much to say really just felt like it was time to write something. We are awaiting the arrival of our baby girl. Who knows when God will bring her our way. I have felt different at the end with this one and that kind of makes me anxious. I will say that I have tried to not lift the kids or do as much recently because I want the little one to develop as much as she should.

Preston is talking, talking, talking. Today he played lots of different things but he is really into his school right now. He will look at him self in the mirror and say “today in school I learned”..and list off whatever he did while making some sort of funny face. He is really into writing letters or at least trying too. He is getting better at identifying them. It is neat to see him remember things.

Naomi is starting to say more. Josh was teaching her colors the other day. She will say purple, blue, green and a few others but just points to her sleeve for every color because she had on a striped sweater when she was learning them. She has started to say “baby” very clearly which is perfect timing I guess. She has started to carry around her baby more….maybe that will help her with the adjustment. She brought me a diaper today and laid on the floor for me to change her although she didn’t need a new one. I guess she just felt it was time. She is continuing to learn more each day. I think she may finally be in the stage where she will start to try to talk more. Thank you is getting more clear and so is touchdown…another word from Josh.

As for me, we had a bunco outing last night with my MOPS group. I won….for being the biggest loser. Ha, that was funny. 2 of the 3 or 4 times I have played that game I have won for losing the most. I think it is pretty funny. At least there is a prize for most losses. Last night, I got some burt bees stuff and bath and body soap which is really nice for losing.

Ok, that is my ramblings for today. Nothing of great importance just hoping Naomi gets rid of her cold soon and Preston stays better. He had it first, then she got it and I feel like it every once in a while but praying that it doesn’t turn into anything more for any of us.

If you get a chance check out our website. That is what Josh has been up to for the last few weeks in all of his free time. I think he and Micah enjoy getting to work on it but it is all beyond me.

Saying goodbye to Uncle.

Today is the funeral of Great Uncle Maurice. He passed away on Saturday in the afternoon. He was a great man. I will miss him and miss talking with him about all the memories we had together. I would ride my pink bike up and down his ditch. It was concrete filled and had a tunnel that went under his driveway. We though that was really cool to get to go in there. Although, I did use to think that witches lived in there so there was a point that I was scared to go in there. I have lots of fun memories with him and Aunt Evelyn. They lived right next door to me when I lived in Arkansas. I would visit over there almost daily. Some of our favorite things were frying fish in his garage, eating HUGE watermelons, and most of all going to get fried pies at the donut shop. That is something that we don’t have in Kansas which is probably a good thing. I loved the chocolate ones when they were hot. I also like the apple and peach ones. Well, I guess I liked them all because cherry was good too. Uncle use to have a little farm in the country and we would go there to ride horses and see the other animals. I remember seeing pictures of me and Uncle sitting on a horse together. In the later years, as I got older and moved to Kansas we still had some good memories. He was such a blessing to me and was such a giver to me. I know he knew how much I appreciated him and I am glad that I got to tell him thanks one last time before he passed. He was so generous to help me pay for my college and I am so thankful that he got to see me use my degree in teaching and in raising our kids. I know that brought him joy.

I was a bit sad that I was unable to attend his funeral but decided it wouldn’t be wise being so close to the end of this pregnancy with number 3. I wish I could have been there but am so glad I got to talk to him and tell him that I loved him one more time while he was still able to respond.

His memories will forever be in my heart. I love you, Uncle. It won’t be the same coming to Arkansas. We won’t get to see you enjoying yourself outside in your chair just watching and waving to those that pass by. You were so talented. I am still in awe of the talent you had with woodworking and am sure Josh would love to have some of that talent. It is amazing to see some of the things you have created. You will be missed.

Preston is learning.

Preston letters
Preston is trying to learn “school”. Yesterday he got out his white board marker and his letters and he traced over all of them by himself. I was impressed because he normally just colors on the tablet and wont even trace one letter. He is starting to learn and remember A LOT!

Happy New Year

As part of the new year I am going to try to keep those who care updated with things in our life.  Josh has been so great to set this up for me so hopefully I can add to it every week or so.

We are almost a month away from welcoming a new little girl into our family.  She is still nameless but we call her baby sister right now.  Preston is excited and understands, Naomi on the other hand is clueless and will have her world shaken up when the new little one arrives.

Today it was really nice outside.  Preston was drawing with sidewalk chalk and drew 2 pictures that really looked like what he said they were.  He said he drew an “itsy bitsy spider went up the water spout, down came the rain and washed the spider out” which was a spider.  He also drew a jelly fish.

Naomi is trying to learn to communicate more but getting frustrated when she can’t.  We have been trying to teach her signs for things because she seems to be picking up on those a lot more than actual words.  She will repeat things after us if we have her try and she is in the right “mood”.    She is loving shoes right now and wants some on all the time.  Today she had on her tennis shoes then we took the off when we came in and she brought me her slippers to put on.  Too funny.

Baby sister is moving a lot.  She likes to push out her little limbs and give my belly knobs from her arms, or elbows or something.  I guess I shouldn’t have had a little Dr. Pepper at lunch because she is an acrobat right now.   We had a sonogram on Wednesday and the Dr. said everything looks great.  She weighs about 4 lbs 8 oz right now.  According to the sonographer, she has lots of hair…we will see if that is true when she comes out.  Naomi was pretty bald.

Christmas part 2- Topeka

We spent the day on Saturday celebrating Christmas with Josh’s side. It is much different with 10 kids and soon to be 12 kids. Our nephew, Walker has strep so he couldn’t be with us. Preston and Naomi love playing in the basement at Grandpa’s because there are so many different toys, kids and a little exercise trampoline to jump on. We took the Wii and so that was entertainment for a few hours as well. Grandpas always reads the Christmas story to the kids. I think this is a priceless pic above with all the kids sitting for story time.

This morning Preston and Naomi wanted to get out the mega blocks. It started with building towers and bridges and such and ended up with Naomi dumping the blocks out and climbing in the wagon. Preston pulling her down the hall and stacking as many cars on top of her as possible. She smiled the whole time. Oh the things they come up with.
