September

This month has been crazy. Just type a little and add details as time permits and when I get our memory card to upload some pics.

Sept. 1 —last morning in house. Packed up the van, loaded the kids, off to MOPS we went at 8:30 and never returned to our house…..that is a a weird feeling.
Sept. 1- Sept 14- Stayed at Matt and Libby’s house in Topeka. (Josh’s sister) The kids had a blast playing with their cousins, jumping on the trampoline, swinging on the swingset, chasing the new kitten, Ty. We had a good time getting to go on 2 dates because we traded with Matt and Libby. I had a good time being able to visit and help Libby during the day and she was so helpful with the kids too.
Sept. 14-now We are at our gracious friends home, Vanessa and Cole. We are praying and waiting for our house to close. We are hoping it will close before I leave to go to Nashville for the MOPS convention but it may not. The latest it should be is Sept 28. There is an end in sight and we will soon be in our new home.

The kids are doing so much better than I anticipated. They have still taken naps and are doing pretty good at nap. God is so good to prepare us all in this transition. It could have been much more stressful than it has been.

Tomorrow- Sept 19…we are taking Naomi and Preston to Worlds of Fun. Josh’s company goes every year. It should be quiet the adventure. Naomi will either be scared or love it. You will have to check back and see.

crazy busy…

We normally aren’t super busy with things we have to do but lately we have been. It is crazy. All to say that I haven’t posted much here lately.
Some things that have been going on are:
-we sold 2 of our computers and got a new one so I haven’t been on here as much due to that
-Pops and Ninny came to visit us
-Preston is really fast riding his bike now
-Naomi is trying to count to 10
-Makenna is having a major growth spurt and is eating like a mad women….ha. ha. She is also learning to take a bottle and after about a week of trying she is doing great and I think she may that more than the other right now.
-We (Josh and I) put together a Co-Ed softball team and have been playing in a Rec league the past 3 weeks. Man, sprints to the bases really aren’t as easy as they used to be but it is fun to play again and enjoy the game.
-MOPS should be starting shortly for this year and I am going to be in charge of the Creative Activities.
-Preston has learned his phone number and we dialed it from my cell phone today and let it ring at the house. He thought that was really cool that we were sitting next to each other talking on the phone. I haven’t taught him his address yet because it will be changing soon.
-and are you ready for this….we had an offer on the house, now we have a contract on the house, we had the inspection today and are planning on closing on it on September 1 if all goes as planned.

That is how you can pray for us…that we could find the house that is right for us at this time in our life and that all the little things (like when we will move, where to store stuff, where to stay if we don’t close on the same day, that whatever we offer on whatever house we choose will be accepted and that we can have a smooth transition) Ok, so maybe that was a little too much for (paranethsis) but oh well.

A Late Mother’s Day post

I know that this is a month over due. I have fallen behind on telling about some fun things. I just wanted to remember the great things that Josh did for me for Mother’s Day. I know he is my husband but I am SO thankful that he celebrated Mother’s day for me until the kids get old enough to think on their own. Ha. We got to eat at a nice chinese restaurant and then I got an edible arrangement. like this

That was so neat. I know I would never spend the money on one myself but what a great treat it was and it was so creative too. That was on Saturday. Then on Sunday I went out on my own to go shopping for some new shoes for exercising in and took a nap. It was great time needed and I appreciated all of the love that was put into making me feel loved and special. Thanks Josh, Preston, Naomi and Makenna.

Meet Garrett

We got to meet my dear friend Stephanie’s little boy. Stephanie lives in Texas now but we are friends from high school. She was in town for Easter and we got to meet her little boy who was born exactly 1 month before Makenna. You can’t tell because he is much bigger than our little Makenna but it was great fun seeing both of them.

Here are all the little ones laying with the babies.

She’s here.

Here is a slide show that Josh put together of Makenna. She was born Jan 27 at 9:00 am. She was 6 lb 1.9 oz. So I guess we will say 6.2 to make it easy. She was 19 1/4 in. long. We are home from the hospital and both doing good. The kids are so excited for her. I hope that continues. More later.

a quick note

Not much to say really just felt like it was time to write something. We are awaiting the arrival of our baby girl. Who knows when God will bring her our way. I have felt different at the end with this one and that kind of makes me anxious. I will say that I have tried to not lift the kids or do as much recently because I want the little one to develop as much as she should.

Preston is talking, talking, talking. Today he played lots of different things but he is really into his school right now. He will look at him self in the mirror and say “today in school I learned”..and list off whatever he did while making some sort of funny face. He is really into writing letters or at least trying too. He is getting better at identifying them. It is neat to see him remember things.

Naomi is starting to say more. Josh was teaching her colors the other day. She will say purple, blue, green and a few others but just points to her sleeve for every color because she had on a striped sweater when she was learning them. She has started to say “baby” very clearly which is perfect timing I guess. She has started to carry around her baby more….maybe that will help her with the adjustment. She brought me a diaper today and laid on the floor for me to change her although she didn’t need a new one. I guess she just felt it was time. She is continuing to learn more each day. I think she may finally be in the stage where she will start to try to talk more. Thank you is getting more clear and so is touchdown…another word from Josh.

As for me, we had a bunco outing last night with my MOPS group. I won….for being the biggest loser. Ha, that was funny. 2 of the 3 or 4 times I have played that game I have won for losing the most. I think it is pretty funny. At least there is a prize for most losses. Last night, I got some burt bees stuff and bath and body soap which is really nice for losing.

Ok, that is my ramblings for today. Nothing of great importance just hoping Naomi gets rid of her cold soon and Preston stays better. He had it first, then she got it and I feel like it every once in a while but praying that it doesn’t turn into anything more for any of us.

If you get a chance check out our website. That is what Josh has been up to for the last few weeks in all of his free time. I think he and Micah enjoy getting to work on it but it is all beyond me.

Saying goodbye to Uncle.

Today is the funeral of Great Uncle Maurice. He passed away on Saturday in the afternoon. He was a great man. I will miss him and miss talking with him about all the memories we had together. I would ride my pink bike up and down his ditch. It was concrete filled and had a tunnel that went under his driveway. We though that was really cool to get to go in there. Although, I did use to think that witches lived in there so there was a point that I was scared to go in there. I have lots of fun memories with him and Aunt Evelyn. They lived right next door to me when I lived in Arkansas. I would visit over there almost daily. Some of our favorite things were frying fish in his garage, eating HUGE watermelons, and most of all going to get fried pies at the donut shop. That is something that we don’t have in Kansas which is probably a good thing. I loved the chocolate ones when they were hot. I also like the apple and peach ones. Well, I guess I liked them all because cherry was good too. Uncle use to have a little farm in the country and we would go there to ride horses and see the other animals. I remember seeing pictures of me and Uncle sitting on a horse together. In the later years, as I got older and moved to Kansas we still had some good memories. He was such a blessing to me and was such a giver to me. I know he knew how much I appreciated him and I am glad that I got to tell him thanks one last time before he passed. He was so generous to help me pay for my college and I am so thankful that he got to see me use my degree in teaching and in raising our kids. I know that brought him joy.

I was a bit sad that I was unable to attend his funeral but decided it wouldn’t be wise being so close to the end of this pregnancy with number 3. I wish I could have been there but am so glad I got to talk to him and tell him that I loved him one more time while he was still able to respond.

His memories will forever be in my heart. I love you, Uncle. It won’t be the same coming to Arkansas. We won’t get to see you enjoying yourself outside in your chair just watching and waving to those that pass by. You were so talented. I am still in awe of the talent you had with woodworking and am sure Josh would love to have some of that talent. It is amazing to see some of the things you have created. You will be missed.
