September

This month has been crazy. Just type a little and add details as time permits and when I get our memory card to upload some pics.

Sept. 1 —last morning in house. Packed up the van, loaded the kids, off to MOPS we went at 8:30 and never returned to our house…..that is a a weird feeling.
Sept. 1- Sept 14- Stayed at Matt and Libby’s house in Topeka. (Josh’s sister) The kids had a blast playing with their cousins, jumping on the trampoline, swinging on the swingset, chasing the new kitten, Ty. We had a good time getting to go on 2 dates because we traded with Matt and Libby. I had a good time being able to visit and help Libby during the day and she was so helpful with the kids too.
Sept. 14-now We are at our gracious friends home, Vanessa and Cole. We are praying and waiting for our house to close. We are hoping it will close before I leave to go to Nashville for the MOPS convention but it may not. The latest it should be is Sept 28. There is an end in sight and we will soon be in our new home.

The kids are doing so much better than I anticipated. They have still taken naps and are doing pretty good at nap. God is so good to prepare us all in this transition. It could have been much more stressful than it has been.

Tomorrow- Sept 19…we are taking Naomi and Preston to Worlds of Fun. Josh’s company goes every year. It should be quiet the adventure. Naomi will either be scared or love it. You will have to check back and see.

The last month

we have been doing lots in the midst of selling our house, trying to find a new one, packing and all.
Here are some pics of us picking blackberries at the blackberry patch, peaches at the peach orchard. Naomi and Preston loved both of these and could eat them all the time if I let them. Ha. I told Preston to pcik som so that I could take a picture and look what he did…went to pick some off the dead branch.

We also went to their first parade on main street. It was the Johnson County fair in Gardner all week and then on Saturday they had a parade. Naomi wasn’t a fan of the loud fire engines or horns but loved the horses and the band. Preston loved the little cars, the tractors, just about everything. He was so sweet to share his candy with his friends if they didn’t get any when it was thrown at them. I loved that. I would tell him to keep one of each then he would go and give it to his other little friends if they didn’t catch any. Can’t you tell it was hot. IMG_6176IMG_6192

Just had t put this one in because Naomi usually wakes up not so happy from her naps. I went into room this day and she was actually happy and wanted her pic taken.

This is from the fair when we went. Of course the loved the animals and Preston sat in the fire truck . The thought that was pretty cool. We had our once a year funell cake to share that was yummy!

crazy busy…

We normally aren’t super busy with things we have to do but lately we have been. It is crazy. All to say that I haven’t posted much here lately.
Some things that have been going on are:
-we sold 2 of our computers and got a new one so I haven’t been on here as much due to that
-Pops and Ninny came to visit us
-Preston is really fast riding his bike now
-Naomi is trying to count to 10
-Makenna is having a major growth spurt and is eating like a mad women….ha. ha. She is also learning to take a bottle and after about a week of trying she is doing great and I think she may that more than the other right now.
-We (Josh and I) put together a Co-Ed softball team and have been playing in a Rec league the past 3 weeks. Man, sprints to the bases really aren’t as easy as they used to be but it is fun to play again and enjoy the game.
-MOPS should be starting shortly for this year and I am going to be in charge of the Creative Activities.
-Preston has learned his phone number and we dialed it from my cell phone today and let it ring at the house. He thought that was really cool that we were sitting next to each other talking on the phone. I haven’t taught him his address yet because it will be changing soon.
-and are you ready for this….we had an offer on the house, now we have a contract on the house, we had the inspection today and are planning on closing on it on September 1 if all goes as planned.

That is how you can pray for us…that we could find the house that is right for us at this time in our life and that all the little things (like when we will move, where to store stuff, where to stay if we don’t close on the same day, that whatever we offer on whatever house we choose will be accepted and that we can have a smooth transition) Ok, so maybe that was a little too much for (paranethsis) but oh well.

gotta love her….

Fun pics of the family

We took some pics after church this Sunday just because. Well, I really thought of it because Josh and Preston look like Father like Son in their outfit. Makenna didn’t really get in on the action because she was sleeping so we took some of her when she woke up. Look she is trying to sit up for a few seconds at a time….doesn’t she look like a little munchkin. She is so sweet. Preston and Naomi crack me up. Notice my attempt to get a pic of all three of them. Only 2 cooperated and then there’s Naomi (look at the background you will see her rolling around on the floor). Just shows you her personality…Ha.

no training wheels…

Can you believe it!!! Last Sunday (just over a week ago) Josh and I thought it would be fun to see what would happen if we took of Preston’s training wheels from his bike. Well, he did pretty good if we held onto him and helped him steer. We practiced for 5 or 10 minutes each day while it was cooler outside but didn’t get to practice too much because some days had 110 heat index. It was a HOT week. He would say, ” I will go and you hold onto my neck and help me, then you can let go and I can do it myself.” Josh and I would hold onto his neck a little to help him get started and then today we went to the park and took his bike. I helped him ride around the little path a few times guiding him, letting him go, getting him back on the concrete, letting him go. Then all of a sudden he started doing all on his OWN! He was riding around starting himself, biking all around the path for 20 or 30 minutes off and on. I am so proud of him. His practice paid off and I can’t believe he isn’t even 4 yet and doesn’t have training wheels on. Where does time go?? We had some good laughs too because he thinks it is fun to ride in the grass. As I was helping him, he would ride in the grass full speed keep peddling and then go back on the sidewalk. We were both laughing pretty hard when he did that. He thought that was pretty funny. I did take a video with my phone and will see if I can get it uploaded here sometime soon.

I’m 2!!

That is what we are trying to teach Naomi to say. She does pretty good. She had her 2nd birthday on Sunday and I think she talked more in one day than she has in her whole life. She talked all day long. She was singing “Happy Birthday to me” with a big grin on her face throughout the day. She cracks me up. Josh had found a pretty purple dress and got it for her. She twirled and twirled in it and wore it to church and part of her party. We had family come over and it was a great time for her. She got bubbles and was very excited about those. She kept saying “bubble, bubble” and couldn’t wait to play with them until she heard there was food. Then she went up to the table and ate and ate and ate. Chips and salsa, pinwheels, hotdog, chips….her cousins ate, left, ate and left again and she was still there asking for more. It was hilarious. I am pretty sure she knew the day was for her! Now we will begin the wonderful year of being 2. Naomi thinking she knows what is best for her and trying to get her way. Learning that sometimes mommy says “No” and she won’t get her way, back and forth, I am sure those times will be plenty but she is also such a character to be around. She has such a fun sense of humor she cracks me up. Last night we were telling her what to draw on the magnadoodle. We would say draw a bus, she would repeat “bus” make a little line on the magnadoodle; draw a cow, “cow” another little line; draw a basketball, “basketball” another little line…over and over again for a few minutes. All the while looking up at us with her big cheesy grin. We love you Naomi and are thankful God has blessed us with you for 2 years. Naomi 2nd bday2nd bday

outdoor fun

We have been spending lots of time outside enjoying the nice weather. We got the kids this sprinkler and it is pretty neat. It spray and then you can put balls in the spiral part and the ball shoots up with the water. Naomi wasn’t so sure about it spraying on her and so I got her a plastic cup and she was filling it up and drinking it from the sprinkler. Preston likes putting the balls in and seeing how high it can shoot up.

Thomas the Train

Thomas the Train came to a train depot in Baldwin City, about 15 minutes from home so Grandma came with us and we went to see him. We didn’t ride the train because it was $18 a person….that would add up fast. I convinced Preston that we would go if he didn’t ask to ride it. We had lots of fun though. They had a fire truck that the kids got to see, a bouncy slide, some animals to pet, lots of Thomas things, bubbles, and then the train came and went from there. It was our second year. I think Preston liked it more this year but Naomi was a hoot. She decided to sit down in the middle of nowhere on the gravel walkway because she was tired. There she was little miss sitting in the middle of all the food vendors not wanting to get up because she was tired and hungry. We ate there because it ended up taking longer than I thought and we weren’t done seeing everything. Naomi had a cup of ice and she was entertained with that for probably 30 minutes while she sat at the picnic table with Grandma. That was nice because Preston and I walked around looking at the rest of the things while the girls hung out a the table with Grandma.
